About the first workshop
This workshop will focus on the Account side of the program. The workshop will include such topics as:
* Reconciling with your bank account (CRUCIAL!)
* Entering transactions
* Splitting transactions
* Scheduling recurring transactions
* Setting up on and off budget accounts
* Entering a check number
* Dealing with cash
* Transferring between accounts
* Creating a buffer (or “living in the next month”)
* Answering questions from DA members (see submission form below)
Who should attend?
This workshop is primarily aimed at those who are already using YNAB and need a refresher or those who have downloaded the software and have a basic understanding of how to use it. You must be able to work on your version of YNAB during the workshop. (We may also create a “dummy” version together during the workshop.)
Please have the following items
* A copy of your November transactions to date from your bank
* The current balance in your account
* A list of items that have NOT YET cleared your account
The second workshop (date to be determined) will focus on the Category side of using YNAB.
PC or Mac?
I will be working on a PC. Most functions are the same between the two systems, but there may be some small differences. If you have Mac-related questions, I will direct you to the YNAB user forum.
YNAB costs $60 but you can download and try it at no cost for 30 days. (There is a free mobile app you can add on to the computer version.)
You are welcome to participate even if you have just downloaded the software. However, I strongly recommend taking the free YNAB classes prior to this workshop. They will give you a basic understanding of the software. Otherwise, this workshop may not be helpful for you.
Disclaimer: I do not receive any financial or other payment from YNAB.
About my YNAB experience
I have been using YNAB since November 2009 and previously used Excel and Quicken. YNAB has been the best tool I have used to keep my numbers. Over the past six years, I have worked one on one with many DA members to help them use YNAB effectively to keep their numbers.
